Frances M. Martisak, 88 of Ballantine, loving wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma, passed away on February 12, 2006 at St. Vincent Healthcare.
Frances was born is Broadview, MT, on June 20, 1917. The family later moved to Huntley Project and she graduated from high school there.
Frances met William ‘Bill’ Martisak and they were married on Feb. 3, 1937. Over the next several years, they lived in many places throughout Montana and Wyoming, finally settling in Ballantine where they made their home. Their only daughter, Joann, was born on December 10, 1939.
Frances worked for Farmers Union Oil Co. in Worden as a bookkeeper for over 40 years, not retiring until age 70. She enjoyed family, always caring for her husband, sisters, daughter, and her only grandson, David, who was the apple of her eye.
Frances and Bill loved to fish and they spent countless weekends on the North Fork of the Musselshell River with their grandson David. They also loved to dance and wherever a dance was held, they would be found together.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Joann and her husband, James Krum, of Ballantine; grandson, David and his wife Karen of Corrales, NM; Great-grandson, Steven of Corrales, NM; and sister, Ruth Gahagan, of Clarkston, WA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at Ballantine Congregational United Church of Christ. Inurnment will follow at Pleasantview Cemetery, with a reception at the church.
