Roy Eugene Brothwell went to be with his Lord on Sunday, May 30, 2010. He was born June 8, 1929, in Morrill, Neb., to Roy Edwin Brothwell and Sena Etna (Massengale) Brothwell. Roy enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1948, serving tours of duty during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1968, after serving 20 years.
Roy then moved his family to Billings, where he lived and served the Lord for the remainder of his life. He was a member of Faith Evangelical Church and The Gideons International. He was an accomplished leather artist and enjoyed working in his garden, collecting, genealogy, reading western novels and watching John Wayne movies.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie (Day) Brothwell; three children, Tonya (Ken) Bergdoll, Thornton, Colo., Marjean (Steve) Parliament, Omaha, Neb., and Roy Edwin (Carina) Brothwell, Billings; two brothers, Norman Brothwell, Bozeman and Larry Brothwell, Austin, Texas; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to The Gideons International (www.gideons.org) (The Gideons International, PO Box 20024, Billings, MT 59104).
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 5, at Faith Evangelical Church, 3145 Sweetwater Drive.
