Nancy Angelina Bates, 83, passed away at her home in Billings on Aug. 10, 2014.
She was born in Aberdeen, S.D., on Aug. 5, 1931, the oldest of seven children of Oscar and Medora Dale. Nancy graduated from Senior High in 1949 and went on to get a nursing degree in 1953. She and Dale Bates married in Red Lodge in 1956. Nancy worked as an RN at Deaconess Hospital for over 30 years.
Nancy was a kind woman with a good moral character and a fine sense of humor. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Nancy is survived by her loving family: daughters Julie Baum (John) of Seattle, Lori Bates (Marty) of Bridger; daughter-in-law Peggy Bates of Taunton, Mass.; grandchildren Misty and Caleb of Red Lodge, Cody and Nicholas of Seattle, Cory and Brandan of Taunton; great-grandchild Iris of Red Lodge; sisters Donna and Alma; brother Dean; and many nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dale; her son, Dirk; and her sisters, Marlys, Judy and Karen.
Nancy enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards with her pinochle group, reading and attending luncheons with her fellow nurses. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
She wished to convey her love and thanks to all her family and friends, especially Laverna and Joanie.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
