Jean was born on March 23, 1931, to Esther Prindle Swain and James Rolland Swain in Billings, and passed away in Billings on April 8, 2016, due to complications following a recent surgery. She lived in Hardin most of her youth before moving to Billings in 1947 as a senior in high school. She graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1948. Jean worked as a secretary before marrying James Richard Grimm in 1953. She lived most of her life in Billings with her husband. She always enjoyed working in her yard, decorating her home, listening to music and watching her favorite programs. In her later years, she especially enjoyed the company of her two beloved cats, Madison and Simon.
Besides her beloved feline companions, Jean is survived by her two children, Kenneth (Jen Opheim) of Billings and Patti Woods (Larry) of Milwaukee, Wis.; her granddaughters, Alyssa Woods (Wade) of Cottage Grove, Wis., and Crystal Grimm of Denver; her great-granddaughter Rylee Jean Woods of Cottage Grove; nephew Jimmy Swain (Patti) of Billings. Several other nieces and nephews also survive Jean. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents; her brothers and their wives, Harry (Kay) and Jim (Nega).
Her family thanks her home caregivers, Rhonda Sappington and Amberlee Vermette, for their care and compassion during the final months of her life. A special thank you also to Joyce Mullikin for her year of friendship and service to our mother.
Cremation has taken place.Memorial services will be 11AM Saturday, August 13th at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
