Zachary Earl Asay entered the world in the early morning hours of Aug. 19, 1979, to Bob and Cheri Asay, and was taken from us too soon in the early morning hours of March 29, 2023. Sixteen months after Zach entered this world, his partner in crime, Jennifer followed. Five years later his sister, Whitney, and then 10 years later, his baby brother, Benjamin, completed their family of six.

Zach graduated from Skyview High in 1997, then after some college, in 2000, he started his career with Residential Support Services, where he grew an undying love for his clients. He worked his way up to group home manager within the 23 years with RSS, where he worked until he passed.

While working for RSS, Zach met the love of his life, his soulmate and person, Heidi, in 2003. On Aug. 6, 2004, they were married at Oscar’s Dreamland in Billings. During their 19 years together, they acquired five furbabies whom he was a very proud cat dad to. Kitty Perry, Leonardo DiCatrio, Mr. Meowgi, Catrick Swayze, and Pawdrey Hepburn will all miss him dearly.

Zach was the life of the party of any crowd. He knew how to entertain everyone with his sarcasm and quick wit and he was sure known for it. One of Zach’s favorite vacation spots was his Uncle Wade’s lake house in Texas.

Zach always claimed himself as the “coolest” uncle ever and his nieces and nephews would all agree. He loved his nieces and nephews with all of his heart and they loved him dearly.

Zach had a long list of friends that he considered family and they were all very loyal to one another, no matter the circumstances. His friends Jeremy Scheeler and Brian Botchy meant the world to him and Ray, who passed too soon and will be joined by Zach on the other side.

Zach is preceded in death by his father, Robert Earl Asay, by only one month; his grandparents, Louis Von Bergen, Darlene and John Foote, and Mary and Maurice Asay; and his aunt Nancy Asay. He will also be joining his mother-in-law Candy Jangula on the other side as well. He is survived in life by his beloved wife, Heidi; his mother, Cheri Asay; his siblings, Jennifer (Frank) Slevira, Whitney (Jason) McCullum, and Ben Asay; his aunts and uncles, Brad Von Bergen, Wade (Lisa) Von Bergen, Shelly (Rob) Seidel, David (Lesli) Asay, Gail (Worthy) Glover, Laura Asay and Diane Fladmo; his nieces and nephews, Victoria, Madison, Akira, Khloe, Jonathan, Charlotte, Jaxson, Tennessa and Hunter; sister-in-law Judy Parsley; and countless friends and family.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave.
