Agnes W. Model, 93, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2019, at Hansen Cottage in Billings. She was born on Sept. 21, 1925, to Lottie and John Walkowski in Plentywood. After graduating from Plentywood High School, she moved to Billings, where she graduated Billings Business College.
She worked as a secretary for the oil exploration companies of Conoco and MAPCO. Agnes married Richard "Dick" Model on June 19, 1950, in Plentywood. She enjoyed the busy life of raising and encouraging five children through school, athletics, music, Scouts and church. Later, she enjoyed traveling and working with Dick throughout Montana, Wyoming, Idaho and North Dakota.
Agnes volunteered for many years at Western Manor and the Alberta Bair Theater. As a longtime member of St. Pius Church, she volunteered in many church activities and also enjoyed being a member of Geo. Wives. She was an excellent cook, hosting meals and baking sweets for her family, friends and treasured grandchildren. Other interests included traveling, reading, sewing and working the daily crossword puzzle and Jumble. In her final years, she enjoyed watching television in the company of a friend or family member.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Ambrose and John; sisters Helen, Irene and Josephine; and Dick, her loving husband of 66 years. She leaves her sons Michael (Diane) of Sun City, Mark (Lesley) of Billings, and Brian (Jeanine) of Seattle; daughters Colleen of Billings, and Jan (Phil) Robins of Portland; grandchildren Scott (Ashley), Steph (Duncan), David (Megan), and Tim (Alex); and great grandchildren Johnnie, Maggie, Avery, Mikayla, Marilyn and Joetta.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hansen Cottage at St. John's, the staff at Aspen View, and Annie Garcia for their loving care of Agnes. They added comfort and joy to her final years.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 717 18th St. W., with interment of ashes immediately following in St. Pius Calvary Cemetery next to the church. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite charity.
