Alan E Wright, 36, of Billings, passed away at his home on Feb. 16, 2024.
Alan was born on April 5, 1987, in Bozeman and grew up in Springhill. He attended school in Belgrade, graduating in 2006. Alan moved to Billings in 2011 and resided in three different group homes under the care of Residential Support Services (RSS). The staff and residents became extended family to Alan.
In his youth, Alan enjoyed summer church camp at Cane Ridge West near Lincoln, family vacations and camping trips, Special Olympics and the Eagle Mount activities of downhill skiing, horseback riding and swimming. Community outings in Billings, especially for ice cream, and enjoying the warmth of sunbeams made Alan happy.
Alan was a special, loving individual who taught many life lessons involving kindness, compassion and forgiveness. He shared his love through soft love-pats and gentle hugs, warming the hearts of those around him. His personal spoken language included unique phrases, like “muywabe, muywabe, muywabe” and “duggie duggie” to signal that he was content and secure.
Alan is survived by his mother, Cathy Evans of Fort Benton; his father, Brian Wright of Kennedale, Texas; brothers Jay Wright (Chelsea) of Poway, California, and Will Wright of Farmer’s Branch, Texas; and nephew Rhys Wright of Poway, California. Other survivors include grandfather Bill Wright of Bozeman; uncles and aunts Bruce (Gwen) Wright of Bozeman, Regan (Roger) Emery of Springhill, Randi (Chris) Wytcherley of Springhill, Brad (Cindy) Wright of Belgrade, Ed (Gail) Reiser of Bozeman, Ginny Self of Villages, Florida and Ray (Kim) Reiser of Missoula; as well as numerous cousins and his family at RSS.
Alan was preceded in death by his stepfather, Brian Evans; and grandparents Ed and Freda Loretta Reiser and Edie Wright.
We are comforted imagining Alan swimming and skiing with the angels in his safe, eternal home.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, July 1, at the Springhill Cemetery in Belgrade. Memorials may be made to Cane Ridge West, 1019 Central Ave., Great Falls, MT 59401 (caneridgewest.org); Eagle Mount Bozeman, 6901 Goldenstein Lane, Bozeman, MT 59715; or a charity of choice.
