Albert Nickola

Albert Nickola, 76, of Billings, formerly of Westby, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, June 22, 2012, at Billings Clinic.
Albert was born on Feb. 26, 1936, in El Paso, Texas, to Edwardo and Sara Piñeda. He was later adopted by his stepfather, Christo Nickola.
Albert grew up and received his education in El Paso. He came to Montana in the summer of 1954 to work at the new telephone company, Nemont, where he continued to work until his retirement. He married Barbara Motschenbacher in November of 1956. They moved to Westby in 1960, where they resided until they moved to Billings in 2003. While living and working in Westby, Albert was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Albert loved to play cards, whether it be pinochle, poker, bridge or whatever. If it was cards, he was up for it. He also enjoyed softball, bowling and golf. He so enjoyed spending time with all his friends. He was a good husband, loving father and doting grandpa and "grumpie" to his great-grandkids.
Albert is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons Anthony (Terri) of San Diego, Robert (Joan) of Fort Collins, Colo.; daughters Rose (Ray) Mashek of Billings and Kathy (Don) Eynon of Houston; 12 grandchildren, Michelle, Angela and Ivan Nickola of San Diego, Daniel Nickola of Lafayette, La., Ashli Nickola of Dickinson, N.D., Adam Nickola of Fort Collins, Robert, Kory, Ethan and Anna Mashek of Billings, Zachary and Kylie Eynon of Houston; and five great-grandchildren, Jake and Lola Behning, Justin Daung of San Diego, and Keigan and Caleb Mashek of Billings.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather; brother Alfonso; mother- and father-in-law; six brothers-in-law; and his special granddaughter, Kaitlin Barbara Eynon.
The family wishes to give a special thank you to the ambulance crew, the crew from Fire Station Five, all the doctors and nurses of the ICCU unit at the Billings Clinic for the quickness and compassion they showed Albert.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
