Ann L. Frette, age 99, passed away on Jan. 22, 2022. She was born on the homestead ranch on Sept. 24, 1922, to Nick and Mary Ban, who migrated from Austria. She graduated from Terry High School in 1940. After graduating from a Billings Beauty College, she was employed in Sidney. Later, at the age of 19, she purchased a beauty shop in Terry.
Ann met the love of her life, Harold, at a New Year’s Eve dance. She waited for three years for him to return from WWII in Europe, where he served as an Army Medic. They were married at the Sacred Heart Church in Miles City on April 21, 1945, while Harold was on his first and only furlough during his service. They were married for 56 years and were members of St. Pius X Church.
They raised three children, Cheryl, Kurt and Doug, in Terry. Harold and Ann moved to Glendive in 1975 and then to Billings in 1996.
Harold and Ann enjoyed traveling to New York City, Florida, Canada, California and Washington. They loved to dance and play cards with friends.
Ann is survived by her children, Cheryl Ross, Kurt Frette and Doug Frette of Billings; granddaughter Teresa Sprague (Mike deceased) of Great Falls; and great-grandchildren Mason Sprague of Billings and Mikayla Sprague of Missoula.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, brothers Ivan, Joe, Frank and Ed.
Cremation has taken place and burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
