Ann Spurway passed peacefully from this life on Friday, July 22, 2016, at her residence at Rimview Square, St. John's Lutheran Home, Billings. She was 97.
Ann Lily Keller Spurway was born to Bert and Myrtle Keller in Cameron, Mont., on Aug. 25, 1918. She grew up in Edgar and graduated from Edgar High School in 1936. She attended Billings Business College in 1937. On Sept. 11, 1938, she married Arthur James Spurway. They made their home in Billings, and were married for 52 years, until Art's death in 1990. They had one child, Betty Ann Spurway McKinney.
Ann was a bookkeeper by profession. She worked at Billings Hardware, Marshall Wells, and Sears and Roebuck. She was a dedicated homemaker, seamstress, gardener, and an extraordinary cook. She loved her flowers, and hardly a day passed when she did not have a flower pinned to the front of her blouse, near to her heart. She was a lifelong learner and avid reader. Ann loved to travel, and visited many states and nations over the course of her life.
Ann served her Lord, her friends and her family unrelentingly. Her great joy in life was giving of her time, her service and her love to the Lord and to others. She volunteered faithfully at First United Methodist Church of Billings, The Riverside Neighbors Home Extension Club, Elysian Elementary School, The Billings Food Bank, St. Vincent's Hospital, The Billings Senior Center, United Methodist Women, Church Women United, and many more places.
For the last nine years of her life, she resided at St. John's Lutheran Ministries Community in Billings, where she was a light and a blessing to all who knew her.
Ann is preceded to heaven by her husband, Art; and sister Edith Keller Mullowney. She leaves behind many loving friends, nieces, nephews, daughter Betty McKinney, and grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Ryan and Stephanie McKinney.
"I am the Resurrection and the Life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies, and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die."
- John 11:25-26
Ann embraced life as few people do. Now that she is with Jesus, she is more ALIVE than ever. We thank God for the life of Ann Spurway.
