On Feb. 8, 2019, our mother, sister, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully. Ardine Catherine (Snyder) Grayson was born a twin on July 18, 1932, in Glasgow, to Arden Marshal and Mary Teresa Snyder. Her mother passed away three weeks after their birth. The girls were raised by their grandparents in Glasgow because their father worked for the Anaconda Mining Company in Argentina.
Ardine married Lyle B. Grayson on July 30, 1950, in Glasgow, later divorcing after many years of marriage. They welcomed two children into their marriage: Richard (Mary) Grayson of Embarrass, Minnesota, and Kathryn Grayson Tuttle of Billings.
During her life, Ardine worked as a postal employee in Reserve, Montana, and was a nurses' aide at Trinity Hospital in Minot, North Dakota. She loved her yard full of flowers, and roses were her favorite. She loved to bake and did a lot of canning of fruit and vegetables over the years. In her younger years, her baking talent was shown with the many wedding cakes she made. Mom taught herself the lost art of tatting and also did a lot of knitting. She was an excellent seamstress and had an amazing talent for oil painting. Many of her paintings can be found in the homes of her family.
She was raised a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church and was a member of the choir. Mom had a beautiful voice and was requested many times over the years to sing at weddings. She continued her faith at the West Side Baptist Church in Billings and sang in their choir for many years.
She was preceded in death by both parents; her grandmother Almina L. Snyder and grandfather Enos J. Snyder.
She is survived by both children; granddaughters April Kenaston of Billings and Robyn (James) Lottes of Charleston, South Carolina; grandson Nolan (Amie) Snyder of Thornton, Colorado; great-grandsons Devin and Nathan Kenaston of Billings; great-granddaughters Nova Lottes of Charleston and Samantha Snyder of Thornton; great-great-granddaughter Teagan Kenaston of Billings; twin sister Nadine Jakanoski of Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave., followed by cremation. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Michelotti-Sawyers. Final resting place will be at Glasgow Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association - Montana or the activities department at Bella Terra Nursing Home.
