Arne Degn passed away peacefully on Feb. 12, 2018, with his loving family by his side. He was born April 27, 1927, to Julius and Margaret Degn in Sidney.

Arne's early education was in Sidney. He strived for excellence and worked to stay on the honor roll. As a young man, it was school and hard work helping his dad and brother on the farm.

Arne furthered his education by receiving his bachelor's degree from MSU and returned back home to continue his work on his father's farm. While working on the family farm, he met and married his wife in 1952. They were blessed to be together for 65 years of marriage.

Arne left the farm in 1962 with his three kids and wife to receive his master's degree and PhD in Agricultural Economics. Shortly after graduation, he moved the family to Blacksburg, Virginia, where he taught at VPI. Two years later, we moved to Billings, where he worked for the BIA for 12 years. Arne was a land developer, church council member and a recreational farmer helping his son.

He was most proud to become a grandfather and later a great-grandfather, better known as GGPa. Our father was a hard worker and shared much of his advice and knowledge with his children. His love was abundant in his later years of life. We miss you, Dad; you will always be in our hearts.

Preceded in death by his mother, father, brother Roy, son-in-law Randy.

Survived by his wife, Deo; daughter Karen (David), son Mike (Jill), daughter Rhonda; grandchildren Justin (Tracy), Sarah (Matt), Matt (Katie), Steven (Anni); great-grandchildren Megan, Reese and Jett; nephew Nels, niece Kirsten and many cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 2939 Colton Blvd. Interment will be in Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park.
