Arthur Victor Frank was born on Nov. 30, 1940, to Leonard and Elsie (Entzel) Frank at Halliday, N.D. Art attended grade school in Dodge, N.D., moving to Sidney in 1951, where he completed his education. Art was in the Montana National Guard for six years, with six months of training at Fort Ord, Calif.

On June 27, 1964, he was united in marriage to Marlene Stroh at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Fairview. They had two children born to this union: Lisa and Michael. Art's children made him very proud to be a father because of their many accomplishments. As children, he like to take them camping, fishing and some hunting with his son. One of the family highlights was going to Richland Park the last day of school, roasting wieners and marshmallows, with the finale of burning the year's worth of schoolwork.

In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, but his passion in life was working out in his yard and garden. He liked fishing, bird hunting and, later, it was metal detecting with his buddy, William Breitling. When he started that hobby, he set a goal of finding enough treasures to buy his grandson, Sebastian, his first computer. He accomplished that goal within a year. Hooray for Grampa.

Art was employed at the United States Postal Service for 37 years before having to retire due to health-related problems. He loved his job and, as it is stated, "Not even rain, snow, or sleet could stop the mail." He truly lived by that motto. During his time working at the post office, he also worked part-time at Sidney Oil Company. In the fall, he would take vacation time to help with beet harvest and haul tare bags for American Crystal Sugar Company, formerly named Holly Sugar Company. In 2004, after retiring from the post office, he became a courier for Critelli Couriers of Billings and, three years later, he went to work as a part-time employee for Mon-Dak Trucking.

One of Art's happiest moments, which he spoke of often, was being introduced to crepes at the Eiffel Tower in Paris in 2002 when Art, Marlene and Lisa traveled to Europe to visit Michael and his family. He enjoyed a trip to Alaska, where he and his family went on a whale-watching cruise with lunch on the water. Other travels included California, New Mexico, Texas, Nevada, Colorado and Louisiana.

In December 2011, Art and Marlene made a move from Sidney to Billings, where they started a new journey in their life.

Art is survived by his wife, Marlene, of 52 years; his son, Michael (Kelly) and grandson Sebastian; his siblings, Elmer (Marilyn) of Lidgerwood, N.D., Raymond (Donna) of Sidney, Esther (Allen) Peterson of Culbertson, Harold (Edie) of Billings; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Art was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa; his parents; his brother, Ervin; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at St. Pius X Church, 717 18th St. W.
