Kathryn died at Grand Park Vintage Suites October 2, 2006. She was born to Charles and Mabel Joyce in Forsyth on April 10, 1914. The family homesteaded in Broadview and after graduation in 1932 she went to work for Doctors’ Norman and Frank Bell in Billings.
In 1945 she moved to Seattle and was employed at the Naval Supply Depot on Peir 91. Kathy began her career as legal secretary for Whitmore, Vinton and Powers, retiring from the firm more than 30 years later.
She moved across the Sound to Indianola in 1951 where she chose to make her home and commute daily by ferry. Kathryn lived an independent life and never married. Family was very important and she considered herself blessed with 10 nephews and their families whom she remained close to. In 2000 she returned to Billings to be near her family and lived in an assisted care facility.
She was a gentle lady with a quick wit and a sense of humor that charmed all
who were lucky enough to be a part of her life. Kathryn is survived by brother Fred Joyce, his wife Jo and their sons: Doug, Jerry, Tim, Dave and his wife Kate and children. The sons and families of her late sister Ruth and Lawrence Erickson: Larry and Susan, Greg and Marie, Dennis and Debbie, Tony and Gayle, Dean and Kay, and Bart and Lynn Erickson.
Cremation has taken place. Mass will be held for Kathryn will be 2:00pm, Friday, October 13, 2006 in St. Theresa Catholic Church, Broadview. Her brother Fred and father Charlie helped to move this church from Comanche to Broadview.
