Barbara Ann Carpenter, age 61, of Baker, MT passed away on Wednesday March 12, 2025 at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings, MT surrounded by her family.

Barbara, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion and her faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. We ask that you remember her not for the way her life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Barbara was born on October 11, 1963 in Sidney, Montana. Barbara was the oldest child and daughter of Gene and Lucille (Sella) Sullivan. Barbara grew up in Glendive, MT and attended Dawson County High School, and Dawson County Community College.

Barbara was 12 years old when she met her soulmate Johnny Carpenter who was 15 years old at the time. Barbara and Johnny got married on June 26, 1982 in Glendive, MT in her parents’ backyard and had two beautiful daughter’s Angel and Tara. They would have celebrated 43 years of marriage in June of this year.

Barb was a homemaker, but when her children attended school, she worked various jobs in her spare time. She worked at a greenhouse in Laurel, Eagles bar, and the Pelikan truck stop. The last placed she worked was, Janes Café in Baker Montana. She loved working there and her coworkers became like family. When her mother became ill with cancer, she quit working to help her sister care for their mother. Soon after, Barb was dealing with her own medical issues.

Barb was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She always put her family first. She loved playing an active part in her children and grandchildren’s life. Johnny worked out of town a lot so she traveled to Billings to spend lots of time with her family. Beside cleaning the house and cooking during her visits she loved to shop, it was one of her favorite past times. She also enjoyed planting flowers, crafts, camping, ceramics, and occasionally trying her luck with scratch tickets. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Gene and Lucille. As well as her fur baby, Bella, which who was also her best friend.

She is survived by her loving husband Johnny Carpenter of Baker, MT. Her two daughters Angel Carpenter and Tara ( Matthew) Bushman of Billings, MT. Her three grand-children Mason, Layne and Sofia. Her sister Sherry Sullivan. One sister-in-law Theresa (Todd) Thorn. One brother-in-law Danny Carpenter and two Nephews Brennon Sullivan and Dalton Carpenter.
