Bill Eugene Fenton left this world too soon on June 3, 2020, at St Vincent's Hospital, at the age of 66.
He was born on July 17, 1953, in Plentywood. He attended Billings Senior High School and joined the Army in 1970. He was honorably discharged in 1971. While his time in the service was brief, it was a very important period in his life that he spoke of often.
Bill joined in marriage with Mary "Kay" Resch on Oct. 1, 2005, at Shiloh Methodist Church in Billings, surrounded by family and friends. They were married for just over 14 years.
Bill loved the outdoors, and he and Kay would go camping around Red Lodge as often as possible, with their little dogs in tow. He also looked forward, every year, to hunting season. He took frequent hunting trips with his son and nephews and took more joy in being outdoors than in the hunt itself.
Bill was a very generous man who was always willing to spend whatever free time he had to help family, friends and neighbors. When he wasn’t on the road or working on some project for Kay and their home, he could be found putting up a swimming pool for Isaac or helping a neighbor work on a pickup or building a new fence for Victoria and her family. If you needed anything, Bill would move mountains to help in any way he could. This, above all else, is what we will remember him for.
Bill suffered a debilitating stroke in January of 2013 that left him partially paralyzed, unable to communicate verbally and in a wheelchair. But, while this prevented him from pursuing his interests, he had Kay and his beloved dog, Charlie, by his side through it all and always had a smile or a laugh for everyone around him.
Bill will always be remembered for his easy laugh, his kindness, his generosity of spirit and his love of life. He will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched, family and friends alike.
Rest in Peace, Bill, and please save a good camping spot for us, when we see you again.
