Billie Jo Berkshire

Billie Jo Roeder Berkshire passed away on July 22, 2016, in Billings. Jo was born in Vernon, Texas, on Nov. 19, 1934, the eighth child of John Leroy and Beulah Dean Roeder. She married Philip L. Berkshire on Nov. 29, 1952, in Olney, Ill. Jo and Phil moved to Cody, Wyo., in January of 1970.

She worked at several jobs in Cody: Geyser Drive Inn, Wea Sooper and as co-owner of Eugene's Pizza, where her homemade pies sold out before noon! Jo loved to bake, cook, sew, knit, read and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. The last few years, she suffered from dementia and was residing in an assisted living facility in Billings.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Philip; brothers Willis, Carlis and JD; sisters, Myrl Leathers, Lorean Babcock, Louise Warrick and June Cotterell.

She is survived by her children, Denise (Kenny) Ellison of Burlington, Wyo., Doug (Jayme) Berkshire of Cody, Wyo., Tim (Liz) Berkshire of Billings, Tom (Sandy) Berkshire of Billings, Diane (Phil) Cathey of Billings and Tonya (Roy) Skinner of Cody; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law Bill (Sally) Weston of Sumner, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

An interment service for family and friends will be held for both Jo and Philip at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 31, at the Riverside Cemetery in Cody.
