Brian Webster Dibble

Brian Webster Dibble passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, in the embrace of his family at his residence at Morningstar of Billings. He died of natural causes following a gradual decline of strength due to physical disability.

Brian was born to Marie Amanda (Wolf) and Leslie Fon Dibble in Stanley, North Dakota, on Oct. 25, 1929. The oldest of four brothers, he was raised on the family farm southeast of Stanley, attending grade school at the Dymond School in Austin township and graduating from Stanley High School in 1947. He was employed by the North Dakota State Highway Department until he was drafted into the Army in May of 1951. He served at Jackson, South Carolina, and with the 443rd Quarter Masters at the Base Depot in Seoul, Korea, in the office of Security and Safety. He was released to the Reserves in May 1953 and honorably discharged in August 1956.

Brian began his truck driving career in Tioga, North Dakota, in May of 1953 with Balsam & Defrance, later Northern Tank Lines, settling in Glendive in 1955. He delivered petroleum products to the communities of eastern Montana and western North Dakota for 36 years, until the company was eventually sold, then continued driving for Cenex Transportation, Dawson County schools and Knolls Ready Mix until his retirement in 2009.

Brian was married to Ramona Ruth Dunn in February 1951 in Watford City, North Dakota. They enjoyed 68 years together, primarily in Glendive and later moving to Billings due to health issues, until her death in 2019.

He is survived by his son, Gregory W. Dibble (Edith) of Billings; daughter Sheryl R. Walsh (Mark) of Rock Springs, Wyoming; and daughter Tracy L. Barber (Tim) of Gillette, Wyoming; four grandsons and five granddaughters; and 13 great-grandchildren and six sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona; his mother and father; three brothers, William, Gary and Lenin; his mother- and father-in-law, Nellie and Charles Dunn; four brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law; plus many dear friends.

All of Brian’s family and friends knew him to be caring, kind and helping. He was eager to meet new people and took a genuine interest in their lives and families. He accepted life on life’s terms. He will be greatly missed.

All arrangements are being handled by Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary and cremation has taken place. Interment in Dawson County Cemetery will be announced at a future date.

Brian’s last years were spent at Morningstar of Billings and his family would like to acknowledge the staff there for their warm community  and care and at Stillwater Hospice for their support. And his special friends there, Ken Card and Tony Mitzel.
