Charles D. Duenow, better known as "Button Box Charlie," passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Dec. 24, 2018, after a short battle with lung cancer. Dad was born Sept. 7, 1938, in San Diego, California. He grew up in Glencoe, Minnesota. After graduation, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy for two years. On Oct. 28, 1959, Charlie married Mary Kisling in Hutchinson, who preceded him in death on Sept. 2, 2017. Dad dabbled in a few careers over the years, but most notably he was an over-the-road truck driver. After retirement, dad perfected the dying art of playing several different accordions/concertinas and the mandolin, as well as how to read music. He belonged to the Fiddler's Club and a few different bands over the years. He loved playing music gigs and entertaining crowds of all kinds and sizes. He regularly shared his talents and love of performing music with the various senior care facilities in Billings.

Charlie is survived by his children, Jayne Duenow (Shannon), Randy Duenow (Jake and Chelsey Duenow and great-granddaughter Tahlia); siblings Lana Duenow (Chad Mellies), Danny Duenow (DJ Duenow and Megan Arndt), and Cindy and Dean Schlueter (April Von Berge and Ben Schlueter); adopted daughter Judi Kittson and fur baby Hey. He is also survived by great-nieces and nephews and cousins.

A celebration of his life will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at Trinity Lutheran Church at 537 Grand Ave. Lunch will be served. Donations may be made to charity of one's choice.
