In the early morning hours of Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, Charles Peter "Chuck" Hanchett, 62, our friend, husband, father, grandfather and brother, left this earth, leaving a void that cannot be filled.

Chuck was born on Sept. 7, 1953, in Billings, to John and Marion Hanchett. Chuck was a gifted athlete and played on baseball All Star teams as a youth and softball as adult. He made the varsity basketball team as a sophomore and was named to the All State football team as a senior. He graduated from Billings Central Catholic High School in 1971.

Chuck loved all sports, both participating and watching. He loved being a grandpa and watching football with his grandson Mason (a Seahawks fan). Chuck was a member of the Pipefitters Union for over 41 years and was an excellent craftsman, welder and draftsman. He took great pride in his work. He worked a majority of his career for Weldtech Services Inc. Chuck married Rebecca Newell on Sept. 15, 1978, and they were blessed with two children, Charles Paul and Andee Marie. On July 2, 2007, he married Kristin Hanstrom.

He is survived by his children, Charles and Andee; grandchildren Mason and Nya; wife Kris; sisters Kathy Sauther (Vic), Linda Zermeno, Vicki DeLeo; and brothers John (Eileen) and Larry (Cindy); and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Marion Hanchett, and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

There will be a vigil service at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave., and a funeral at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at St. Pius 717 18th St. West. Thanks to all for your love and prayers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eagle Mount, Rimrock Foundation or a charity of your choice.
