Christopher Shane Romero, 38, of Billings, passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 28, 2012, at his home, of a heart attack.

The son of Timothy Romero and Lawanda Estill Romero, Christopher was born in Billings on Jan. 11, 1974. He spent 15 years in law enforcement, serving the last eight years as a Yellowstone County Deputy. In 2001, he married the love of his life, Robbin Work, in Red Lodge. To this union, three children were born: Sidney Paige, Peyton Lindsay and Landon Christopher. He loved his wife and children very much.

Christopher had a zest for life like no one else. He enjoyed boating, campfires and spending time in the mountains with his friends and family. He also liked to sing and play guitar, and spent many hours on the back patio with family and friends, solving the world's problems. Christopher was always a shoulder his friends could lean on. A loyal friend, he was one of the most honest men you could meet. He always stood up for the underdog, knew right from wrong, and fought for it. He was a loving father. He could make someone who wanted to give up keep going. He attended King of Glory Lutheran Church with his family and was a member of the Yellowstone County Deputy's Association.

Survivors include his wife and three children; his parents, Lawanda Romero and Timothy Romero, both of Nashville, Tenn.; his father-in-law, Robert (Shirley) Work, who loved Christopher like a son; his grandmother, Florence Young of Billings; his brothers, Augustin Romero and Tim Romero of Nashville; Tera Hendrickson of Billings; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends too numerous to mention. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elmer Estill, Tony and Gilbert Romero; and his mother-in-law, Gail Work.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 2, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at King of Glory Lutheran Church. The casket will be closed at the church.
