Clair Moody

Clair Moody, a World War II veteran (163rd infantry, Pacific Theater) and one of the "Greatest Generation" passed away in Billings on January 30, 2012 after a lengthy illness. A son of Floyd and Ivine Moody, he was born in Billings on July 16, 1922. After graduating from high school, Clair joined the army and served 5 years until war's end. Upon return, he took over the Moody Hatchery from his father. Later he formed a partnership to create the Quality Hatchery. He then owned and managed the Heights Gambles Hardware for over 22 years.
Clair married his wife of 52 years, Frona (Toni) Thornton on September 14, 1947. She preceded him in death on April19, 2000. He is survived by two daughters, Linda Platt and husband Steven of Billings, and Dr. Irene Moody and husband Michael Skelton of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has five grandchildren, Carrie, Jason, and Katelynn Platt, and Claire and Anne Skelton.
Clair was a member of Disabled American Veterans and the First Christian Church. We will truly miss his great sense of humor and distinctive laugh, as well as his organizational skills and bright blue eyes.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held 11am Friday, February 10th at First Christian Church.
