Dale Angelo Renee

Dale Angelo Renee was born Nov. 1, 1933, in Summit, Mississippi, to Henderson Dixon and Bertha Butler Dixon Wall. He was called to transition on to eternal life on July 23, 2020, at the age of 86.

Dale met his first love at the tender age of 14. That love being music. He left home at 14 and moved to live with relatives in New Orleans. He began playing music at small juke joints when he was 16 years old. Before his adventurous spirit took him to Los Angeles, he was introduced to a role he would love more than his music and that was becoming a father. Dale immediately made strong connections in California and continued solidifying his musical career even more. He created numerous meaningful and loving relationships that he maintained and spoke of into his final days.

Dale later worked his way across the States until he settled in Buffalo, New York, where he worked for the railroad. He was truly a trifecta of talent and skills. Between a leap of faith and the need for a stand-in musician for a gig, he ended up in Billings. In Billings, Dale found his forever love in a beautiful Chicana farm gal with long black hair, striking eyes that made his heart rev faster than the souped-up Mach 1 Mustang that she drove. Their love continued until his last breath and will carry on into forever.

Dale was known as the Montana Blues Man. He pumped life into the live music scene and was known to mentor and teach anyone who was serious about learning music. Dale led the Monday night jam session that gathered musicians from all over the Magic City to come together and jam. The participants ranged from seasoned musicians to those just finding their love for music. Dale provided an equal opportunity for all to jam together.

Dale's music took him on extensive tours through Africa, Europe, Japan and Canada, his second home. He played with artists such as James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Ink Spots, The Arabian Knights, Deon Warwick, Big Mama Thornton and countless others who paved the way for the Blues genre.

He was firm on wanting to be the best at anything he committed himself to. He was a skilled boxer, avid fisherman, knowledgeable mechanic, passionate cook, patient mentor and an amazing artist.

We will miss his straightforward communication, his colorful storytelling and his weakness for sweets....

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and Henderson. He is also preceded by his children Roosevelt "Chu Chu" Dixon, Tyrone Dixon and Frank Dixon. Dale will also be welcomed by his siblings Joe Wall, Ethel Abrams, Helen Maxwell, Sarah Frances Wall, Lucille Wright and Frank Dixon.

Dale is survived by many who absolutely love him and will continue to carry on his legacy of not only music but his kindness, love and endless generosity. These loved ones include, but are not limited to, his loving wife, Barbara Renee; his siblings, Louise Bates, Elijah (Bridgett) Wall, Donald Wall, Willie (Mable) Wall; his children, Dale (Elle) Ephriam, Renee Dixon, Birdella (Roger) Cook, Darrell Dixon, Dale Renee Jr., George (Tedra) Renee, Derek Renee, Maya (Rome) Webster. Dale is also survived by countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren! His favorite response when asked about all of his loved children was, "The Bible said to be fruitful and multiply...." He will truly live on....

A special thank you to both Lincoln and Oakland Renee for caring for Papa and allowing him to have his wish of being in his home during his final days. We are forever grateful.
