Dale Allen Tullar, 62, died peacefully in his home on March 23, 2019, after a long battle with his health. Dale was born the second of three boys to Jack and Ellen Taylor on Nov. 22, 1956, in Glendale, California.
After the untimely death of his father Jack, Ellen married Richard Tullar, who adopted the three boys and raised them as his own. Dale often reminisced of summers filled with family vacations, camping and visiting National Parks.
He joined the Navy just out of high school. Upon leaving the Navy, he settled in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Here, he met and married Deborah Hayden in 1980. To this union there were two sons, Steven and Chris.
He began a career in auto mechanics to support his new family. Dale and the boys would go on to follow Debbie as she was stationed at multiple destinations across the country with the military. Upon their divorce in 1991, Dale settled in Billings, where he went on to raise his sons. In 2001, a stroke forced him into an early retirement. In his retirement, he completed a lifelong goal of returning to school and graduating college with a master's degree.
More recently, he enjoyed spoiling his one and only grandchild as much as possible. He also enjoyed outings with friends and family, even if it was just to grab a cup of coffee and chat. He also enjoyed pampering his closest companion, his cat Fluffy. In his last few years, he fought many battles with his health, never giving up without a fight. Even at the end, he was still making plans for the distant future. Many will miss his sense of humor and the way he would push your buttons just to get a reaction, all in fun. He was always willing to lend advice, as well as seek advice from others. Dale was always generous and giving to friends, family and local charities, even if he had to go without.
Dale was preceded in death by his biological parents and his adoptive father.
He is survived by his son, Steven (Donni) Tullar, granddaughter Alexandra, and son, Chris (Melissa) Tullar, all of Billings; brothers Donald (Rose) Tullar of Oak Harbor, Washington, and David Tullar of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He is also survived by stepmother Patricia Tullar, of Avon, Minnesota, and many stepsiblings, nieces, and nephews. He also leaves behind his ex-wife and friend Debbie (Jerry) Blanchard and many other friends.
