Danielle Phyllis Worriax

October 15, 1988 — August 21, 2024

Danielle Phyllis Worriax, age 35, passed away suddenly at Fort Riley, Kansas, on the evening of Aug. 21, 2024.

Named after both parents, Danielle was born Oct. 15, 1988, in Miles City, to Daniel and Phyllis Lantis. She joined two brothers and two sisters. From the beginning, her big blue eyes brought a smile to her entire family and made it almost impossible to ever say no to any request she made.

In 2007, Danielle graduated from Rosebud High School. She went on to join the marines; however, she received an honorable discharge in 2009 when she came home to help care for her mother who was in the late stages of cancer.

Danielle pursued a career in nursing, becoming a CNA and working at several medical centers throughout the state as a traveling CNA.

She put her career on hold for a short time when her first daughter was born in 2013 and focused on motherhood. After a few years, she sought to continue her education to become a nurse. It was during this time that she met and fell in love with Michael Worriax. The two soon welcomed another daughter and later a third daughter to their family. They were married in October of 2021.

Danielle was a hard worker and very attentive mother. She wanted her girls to have a good education, wanted them to enjoy life, and wanted them to be able to see the world. She was also a very private person who kept most people at a distance, and few were allowed close enough to really know the wonderful person she was.

Danielle joined the army in 2022 and her hard work and determination saw her move up in the ranks rather quickly, attaining the position as sergeant just before her death.

Danielle was preceded in death by her mother, Phyllis Lantis; grandmothers, Irene Lantis and Marie Barnes; Aunt Eva Wickens; and Uncle Gary Barnes.

Survivors include husband Michael Worriax; daughters Astra, Twyla and Ayla; father Dan (Wen) Lantis; brothers Shawn and Bart Lantis; sisters Laura (Jason) Phillips and Jaime (Kelly) Goerndt; Aunt Karen (Kenny) Rogers; Uncle Mike Wickens; eight nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

A wake for Danielle will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Michelotti-Sawyers, followed by a committal service and interment at Yellowstone National Cemetery in Laurel.
