Delary Boeck Ulgenes was born September 1, 1927 in Grenora North Dakota, the youngest child of Samson and Lydia (Boeck) Ulgenes. He enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 in 1945 and spent time in Okinowa Japan. He returned to Grenora to graduate from Grenora High in 1947.
In 1950 Del married Irene Rodger and daughter Lynne was born. He married Florence Norby in 1955 at Williston, North Dakota. They had three children, Brad, Jan and Sharla. Del worked as a salesman and supervisor for Johnson-Lieber Food Brokerage Company for 26 years, retiring in 1989.
Del was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. He also enjoyed his membership in the Masons, Shriners, The American Legion, and The Sons of Norway.
Del and Florence enjoyed their friends and staff at the Sweetwater Retirement Center where they lived for over 3 years. Del received wonderful care at Riverstone Hospice house, residing there for five months until he died peacefully on July 24, 2015.
Del was preceded in death by his parents, Sampson and Lydia, his brother in Norway, Jakob, and his sister Norma Trulson.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Florence, his children, Lynne Hammer (Bubba), Brad (Elaine)Ulgenes, Jan (Dan) Davies and Sharla (Craig) Ekegren , his sisters Lovella (Francis) Laqua and Vonnie Sonstegaard. Del took delight in his seven grandchildren Joanna, Emily, Jacob, Kaylee, Cody,Chad and Jenna, and his many nephews and nieces.
The family extends its heartfelt thanks to family members and friends who visited Del, but especially to LLoyd and Jean Norby. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Billings. Memorials may be given to The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd or Riverstone Hospice House in Billings.
