Don Alweis of Billings, MT passed away on January 18 at home. Don led a life marked by generosity, kindness, humor and love for his family.

Born in 1939 to Les and Rosella Alweis in Lewistown, MT. He created lifelong friendships there and excelled on the baseball diamond, basketball court and golf course while spending most of his free time fly fishing. At an early age he learned the men’s clothing business at JASONS under the tutelage of his grandfather, Joe, father, Les and Uncles Norm and Paul. He was always always well dressed for any occasion. He started his own family with Ellen (Cohen) Alweis over 62 years ago. Together they built a life in Billings, filled with numerous friends and success at JASONS.

Everything that brought him pleasure was close to home - family, gardening, fishing, golfing, window and car washing as well as dachshunds. He was known for his dry sense of humor and one-line zingers. Most notably he was instrumental in the longevity of Congregation Beth Aaron and a member of the Yellowstone Country Club, where enjoyed the camaraderie of friends.

As a man of few words and great actions his legacy will continue through his wife Ellen, son Sheldon Alweis (Nikki), daughter Jody Alweis, granddaughters Hilary Alweis (Mark Murphy, Jr.) and Caitlin Alweis and great grandsons Bill and Paxton Murphy. Also survived by sister Elaine Ziskind, cousins Sophie Alweis (Lance Grebner), Janet Swadden (Ed), Peggy de la Morena (Miguel) and nieces, nephews and their families.

If you choose to honor his memory, please make a donation to Congregation Beth Aaron, St. Vincent Frontier Cancer Center or an organization of your choice.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 21st at 1:00pm at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary with a brief service at Beth Aaron Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Yellowstone Country Club from 4:00 - 5:30pm.
