Don Stoller, 73, passed away Feb. 21, 2016, at his home in Billings.

He was born on April 1, 1942, in Pettibone, N.D., to Jacob and Sophie (Hofmann) Stoller. He grew up on the family farm with his four siblings. The family moved to Jamestown, N.D., in 1957. He attended Jamestown High School.

He served in the National Guard from 1959 to 1960 and then joined the U.S. Army. He attended Military Police School in Georgia and was stationed as a military policeman in Munich, Germany, for 42 months. He was in the Army from 1961 to 1965.

He married his first wife in 1967 and they had three children whom they raised in Jamestown. He was a trucker most of his life. He also farmed, had a dairy farm, and worked in sales for farm machinery and cars. Over-the-road trucking was what he enjoyed doing. He loved seeing other states, but liked coming home to the wide open views of Montana.

Don married Bette Johnson Ewen on July 4, 1998, in Billings.

He loved to fish, camp and spend time in his shop.

He is survived by his wife Bette of Billings; his three children, Sue Payne of Livonia, Mich., Jon Stoller of Laurel and Holly Pierce (Curt) of Jamestown; his stepdaughter and son-in-law, Yvonne and Pat Halpin of Billings; his six grandchildren, Ashley and Cole Halpin of Billings, Ryan, Dylan and Ethan Payne of Livonia, and Kenley Pierce of Jamestown; his sisters, Lydia Pagano of Diamond Bar, Calif., Dorothy Sorenson of Layton, Utah, and Esther Albrecht (Don) of Buchanan, N.D.; and many nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Edwin Stoller; and an infant sister, Edna.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 29, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Billings.

We would like to thank the staff of Rocky Mountain Hospice for their loving care and attention during these past months, especially his nurse Kathy Seal. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Rocky Mountain Hospice or your local hospice.
