Donna was born Oct. 20, 1950, in Alberta, Canada. She had lived all of her early childhood, and has her schooling, in Browning. She attended Job Corp. in Clinton, Ohio, in the early '70s for office secretary training. She worked in the Browning area for many years. Donna loved being with friends and family. She passed away on Feb. 9, 2018, at her home in Billings. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Donna met Byron French in the early '80s, and they were married for 30 years. They moved back and forth between Billings and Great Falls through the '80s and '90s, but later moved back to Billings permanently when Donna became a great-grandmother for the first time in 2004. Donna had one child: Martina (Ka) Many Guns Dia of Bismarck, North Dakota. Donna had four grandchildren: Hiliary (Ira) No Runner, Michael (Precious) Hart, Cassie and Zachary Hart. She had six wonderful great-grandchildren: Bryceton Hart, Daylon, Romeo, Kaleo, Matai and Miles No Runner. She is also survived by a brother, Leonard (Nadine) Solway, Siksika. Donna's closest relatives were Karen (Stanford) Three Suns and Ann Marie (Leonard) GoodEagle/ManyBears, and Les (Gwen) Munro, Laura (Gerald) Sitting Eagle, Siksika Nation, Alberta, Canada, Darlene Spotted Bear (Rider) of Browning.
Knowing Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior was her life's joy.
Donna loved attending stick games and powwows. She also loved to travel to visit her family, friends, and relatives throughout the northwestern states, Canada. Donna and Byron were often homebound, but often loved their outings to Walmart, where they would see many of their closest and kindest friends. Walmart was Donna's favorite place to go. Donna loved many things, but her biggest love was her great-grandsons. She was present at every single birth. She spoiled those boys. She was with at least one of her great-grandsons almost daily. When she would show up for visits, she often brought a Walmart bag full of candy and treats for the boys. She couldn't hug and kiss them enough during her visits with them. Donna looked forward to sleepovers and Walmart trips with the boys as well. She kept a big collection of toys at her house, adding to it every chance she could. Donna was a very hands-on great-grandmother. She loved to help out any way she could, often babysitting. Even in her last day on earth, she spent the day with her great-grandsons, smiling and laughing with them.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Tom ManyGuns; brothers George Cardinal, Wayne ManyGuns; sister Edna Munro-Turtle and Rose Marie Bear Robe; granddaughter Cassie Hart and great-grandson Kaleo No Runner; nieces Rena Gale and Joanne Turtle; and other numerous relatives.
