Donna Lynn Meyer was born on June 7, 1954, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was the third of four children of Norbert and Mary Meyer. Donna died on Feb. 3, 2021, in Billings, where she lived since her family moved there when she was 10 months old.
Donna was a fiercely independent, strong woman. She deeply loved her two daughters, Dawn Marie Meyer, born in 1994, and Lindsay Ann Stahl, born in 1983. When Lindsey was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of 2, Donna devoted the rest of her life to her care. She was a tireless advocate for Lindsay and, because of her, Lindsay has survived 35 years since her diagnosis and has thrived beyond what anyone would have expected.
Donna's work life included driving a food truck, working with disabled adults at BTI, and finally working as a Special Needs Aide at the Billings Public Schools. Certainly, her interest in working with special needs people of all ages was sparked by her journey with her daughter Lindsay.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Joe; and her daughter Dawn. She is survived by her sisters, Cheryl Meyer and Linda Meyer; her granddaughter Alexis Oberg and her great-grandson Traeson Oberg; her grandson Andrew Piper; her niece Sasha Davis and her three sons, Coby, Jaden and Kamren; as well as numerous relatives in New Orleans.
A memorial service will be held in June around her birthday, and any memorials can be made in her name to Special Olympics.
