Doris Mae Zeiler, 83 of Billings, left her home at Sweet Water Retirement Community and went to be with her Lord Jesus on August 10, 2011. Doris was born on November 2, 1927 in Lewistown, MT, the 8th of 13 children to Earl and Zeta Thompson of Winifred, MT. She grew up in Winifred, graduating from high school there.

Following high school, she moved to Billings where she met her future husband, John Zeiler. They were married in Billings on July 30, 1949. They were blessed with one son Ron.

Doris began working in Billings at a soda fountain and later worked for various businesses assisting with their clerical needs. She did this until she retired. In her free time she loved to play cards and enjoyed various types of needle work including knitting and embroidering. She was an avid bowler. She and John bowled together and following his death, she joined a women's league, travelling the country to bowling tournaments. She loved tending her flower garden until failing eye sight forced her to give it up. Doris was a faithful member of Pilgrim Congregational Church for more than 60 years. She loved being with her family and enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, 2 sisters, and 3 brothers. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Ron (Kathy) Zeiler of Billings; grandchildren, Jesse (Julie), Karissa (Adam) Flick, Caleb Zeiler, Kolby Zeiler and 5 great-grandsons all of Billings; and 7 siblings, Wava Caudill of Colton, CA; John (Darleene) Thompson of SeaTac, WA; Dick (Betty) Thompson of Spokane, WA; Doug (Dorene) Thompson of Great Falls, MT; Ted (Judy) Thompson of Roy, MT; Tom (Dorothy) Thompson of Lewistown, MT; and Bonnie Shiflett of Havre, MT.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Pilgrim Congregational Church. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Pilgrim Congregational Church or the American Cancer Society.
