Dorothy T. Hoover

Dorothy HooverDorothy T. Hoover of Wausau, Wisconsin, formerly of Billings, Montana, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at the age of 82. She was born on September 26, 1923 to the late Jesse and Dorothy (Walmer) Gunn in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dorothy was raised in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She graduated from Lincoln High School there and attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison, where she was the manager of the Wisconsin Memorial Student Union. Dorothy was a legal secretary when she met Ronald Hoover. They married in January of 1948 and raised their family in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.

In 1974, Dorothy and Ronald moved to Billings, Montana, where they purchased and operated United Travel Service. Dorothy was the office manager, while both Ronald and Dorothy enjoyed hosting travel tours, including two to the People's Republic of China. Dorothy retired in 1985. In August, 2003, she moved to Wausau, Wisconsin.

Ronald and Dorothy's brother, Ralph Gunn, preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Jeanne (Larry) White, Billings, children Michael (Martha) Hoover, Wausau, Wisconsin and Cynthia (Jack) Colon, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, grandchildren Michael Newman, Benjamin Hoover, and Jessica Hoover, sisters-in-law Mrs. Ralph Gunn, Janesville, Wisconsin and Marilyn Hoover of Bettendorf, Iowa, three nephews, Larry E. White, W. Thomas White and William Hoover and one niece, Lynn Engelmann.

Dorothy was a member of the First English Church. She loved to read, play bridge, travel, and spend time with her grandchildren. She was loved and will be missed.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 16 at Mountview Cemetery, Billings.
