Douglas CorbettDouglas Brian Corbett, 62, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 16, 2006, at his home surrounded by those who loved him. Doug was the first born to Rudolph Corbett and Peggy (Thornell), on May 28, 1944 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The family resided in Santa Fe for a short period of time until they moved to Greenville, North Carolina. Douglas moved to Butte, MT with his mother and younger brother Michael. In December of 1950, Doug moved to Warm Springs, MT where he lived until moving to Boulder, MT in July of 1969. Living in Boulder, Doug made many friends and captured many hearts.
Doug immediately became part of the Lake Elmo family when he moved there on March 26, 2003. It was obvious to all that knew Doug that he was one of the most determined and strong willed men they would have the pleasure of meeting. No matter what hand he was dealt, Doug always beat the odds. He had a contagious smile that would warm everybody's heart. More than anything, Doug loved sitting on the pier at Lake Elmo, giving and receiving giant bear hugs, watching the sun rise, and spending time with those who loved and cared for him.
Douglas is survived by his father, R.W. Corbett of Lady Lake, FL; brother, Michael; many friends; and his Lake Elmo Group Home family. Cremation has taken place at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 6 at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1603 St. Andrews Dr., Billings, MT, 59105.
