Dr. Wayne Stephen Zundel passed away April 14, 2024, at the age of 59 years young.

He is survived by his brother Mark Zundel and wife Shirley; and sister Laura Schmier and husband Wade. He will be especially missed by his nephews Cameron and Jace Zundel and his two Golden Retrievers Noah and Angus. Wayne was preceded by his Love and soulmate Linda in 2018.

Wayne was an outdoor enthusiast and fisherman. He revered nature. He was an avid reader and a writer and recently was taking up gardening. Wayne loved to spin a yarn and play practical jokes. Fish stories were mere child’s play to him.

Wayne spent his career in cancer research. In 2004, he graduated from Stanford with his PhD. He then spent the next seven years as the Louisville of Kentucky as Radiation Biology Program Director, and Assistant Professor. After that, Wayne moved to Oregon with wife Linda and dogs and pursued research as Director of Molecular Radiation & Cancer Biology & Associate Professor of Radiation Medicine, Physiology & Pharmacology at the Knight Cancer Institute at Oregon Health Sciences University. Wayne was always happiest in the Lab, sharing time with Linda and the dogs, or on any Montana river!
