Edna Matz left this earth on Oct. 10, 2018, to join her heavenly father.
Born on Feb. 13, 1926, in Bowman, North Dakota, she grew up in Camp Crook, South Dakota. After graduating from high school, she joined the Cadet Nurse Corp. and went through nurses' training at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings, graduating as a registered nurse. Later in life, she received her master's degree in public health from MSU in Bozeman.
Edna married Leo Matz on June 12, 1948. They had two sons, Steve and Brian. She loved to travel, and visited Europe and the Middle East, her favorite place being Israel, which she visited on two occasions. She was a devout Christian all her life and a longtime member of the Billings Christian Women's Club. She was a devoted mother to her sons, Steve and Brian, and always made time to get them to Scouts, basketball, the movies and whatever else came along.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leo; brothers Harold, Ted and Keith; and sisters Sharon and Betty. She is survived by her sons, Steve, Brian (Annette); brothers Edgar, Verle and Rick; sister Fran; grandchildren Brandon (Nannette) and Blair (Denise); and great-grandchildren Madden and Hollan.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial will be held at a later date.
