Edward Funk, 87, of Billings, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, May 31, 2015. Ed was born in Walla Walla, Wash., to James Funk and Gladys Hedenskog. He enlisted into the Army in 1946 as a transportation specialist and was honorably discharged in August 1948. On March 31, 1950, he married Mary Rome. They had four children. At the age of 76, Ed began working for the City of Billings, Solid Waste Department. He was employed by the City for 10 years before retiring for the second time. Ed enjoyed dancing at the Senior Center and the VFW. He also became involved in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he became close friends with Steve and Jan Schaak. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Gladys; brothers Oliver, Fred, Arnold, Jess and Howard; sisters Bertha Green, Julia Marker, Lavina Wilson and Irene Collins; daughter Colleen Scharf; and son Michael. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Mulligan (John); son Russell Funk; granddaughters Janell Scharf, Laura Ralph, Rebecca Funk; grandsons David, Sean, Nathan and Alex; and great-grandchildren Adrian Scharf-Aby, Austin Finch and Teagen Ralph. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Billings. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a veterans' charity.
