Eileen died peacefully on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at Central Wyoming Hospice in Casper. Eileen was born on Aug. 6, 1924, in Custer, Mont., to Scottish immigrants Alex and Maria Brown. Eileen grew up on the NF ranch east of Roundup, Mont., and was active in 4-H and helped out on the family sheep ranch.
After high school, she and a friend set out on an adventure to Denver, but their money ran out in Casper. She worked in Casper for the U.S. Post Office, where she met her husband, Frank. They were married on July 25, 1946. Together, they had two sons and two daughters.
She was a very hard worker her whole life and threw herself into many projects. She worked for MDU, in the school system as a secretary, as a city clerk, as a vet tech, and once ran the Greyhound bus depot. She loved to knit, sew, play bridge and travel. She always had her crossword puzzle done by noon. Her trips took her to Europe, Scotland, England, Mexico, Canada, and all over the United Sates. She was active in the Global Grannies, Blue Blazers and First United Methodist Church. She was proud of her Scottish heritage and would often quote Scottish sayings and poetry. She was also known for her "Eileenisms," such as "don't borrow trouble"; "here's your hat, what's your hurry." We will greatly miss her quick wit, sarcasm, spirit and spunk.
Survivors include son Greg (JoAnn); daughter Janelle Christianson (Dale); four grandsons, Josh (Riley), Alex (Chollada), Sean (Pamela), Ryan (Sally); three great-granddaughters, Kolbe, Isabel and Grace; two great-grandsons, Cooper and Grayson.
Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; son Randy and daughter Tammi Jo; her parents; and four brothers, Alex (Sandy), Clem, Innes and Jimmy.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 8, at First United Methodist Church, 2800 Fourth Ave. N., Billings, with Rev. Tim Hathaway officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Donations can be made to the Central Wyoming Hospice Program, 319 S. Wilson, Casper, WY 82601.
