Eileen Emily Hahn passed away peacefully on April 14, 2015, surrounded by loving family at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings. She was 82 years of age. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and great-aunt.
Eileen was born in Bowman, N.D., to Hugh and Emily Vaughan on Dec. 3, 1932. She and her five brothers and sisters grew up in small towns along the Montana Hi-Line. She attended high school in Circle; studied art at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn.; and was an artist for Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, Mo., where, on a blind date, she first met her husband, Jim. They married in Circle in 1957 and moved to Billings, where they raised their five children. Eileen was always busy with the family and at Atlas Engineers Inc., the business she and Jim ran together. She enjoyed crocheting and making beaded jewelry, and there was always a jigsaw puzzle in the works to gather around and share stories over when grandchildren visited. Always upbeat, always a twinkle in her eyes, Eileen will be remembered for her soft, comforting smile.
Eileen is preceded in death by Jim, her husband of 56 years; her grandson, Sterling Stiles; brother Howard Vaughan (Leona); brother Dennis Vaughan (Carol Vaughan Kemmis); sister Jean (Victor) Wagner; and sister Eleanor and brother-in-law Ralph Kress. She is survived by her brother, Gary (Gloria) Vaughan; her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter, Hugh, Kathryn, Dylan and Rachel Hahn of Marshfield Hills, Mass.; Kate, Tom, Hank, Susanne and Jessica Moore of Billings; Emily (Moore), Jay and Garnet Gibbs of Glendive; Roberta and Craig Edwards of Big Sandy; Margaret, John, Peter and Eileen Ales of Seattle; and Louise, Kevin, Miranda and Cynthia Stiles of Billings; and her many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 17, at Christ Covenant Reformed Church, located at Yellowstone Christian College, 1515 South Shiloh Road, Billings. There will be a light lunch reception following the service. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Yellowstone National Cemetery, Laurel.
