Elmer Joseph Heidt, 66, of Billings, went to be with the Lord on June 5th, 2006, with his family at his side, while waiting for a liver transplant.
He was born on February 3, 1940 in Belfield, North Dakota to Christ and Ida Heidt, who preceded him in death. He was the second child of four. Elmer married Betty Muth on February 16th, 1960. They were married for 46 years. He worked in the dairy industry for 32 years before retiring. His hobbies and enjoyments included building go-carts, snowmobiling, fishing, working in his garage, his meat house, and stock car racing, a hobby both his grandsons took over and enjoy as much as their grandfather did.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Betty and his three children, Jackie (Tom, Jr.) Todd of Shepherd, Jerry (Jennifer) Heidt, and his vigilant daughter Dianne Heidt of Billings, two sisters and a brother, Irene (Tom) Braun of Rapid City, SD, Ann (Phil) Fanton of Townsend, MT and Henry (Bonnie) Heidt of Carson City, NV, and his pride and joy four grandchildren, Jeremy and Jason Todd, and Alisha and Deanna Heidt and two great grandchildren, Mackenzee and Marysa Todd. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He will long be remembered for his wonderful laughter, his love of old time music and dancing. Wherever Elmer went, he made friends. We love and miss you Dad.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Rocky Mountain Hospice for their care.
Vigil services will be 7pm Thursday at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Avenue. The Funeral Mass will be 10:30am Friday at St. Thomas The Apostle Church, 2055 Woody Drive. Rite of Committal will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
