Emil Marlin "Spud" Loe died at his home surrounded by family on November 27, 2006 after his one year fight with Mesothelioma cancer. He was 77 years of age. Emil was born and raised in Warwick, North Dakota on the family farm. He had 4 sisters: Laurel (Bill) Kokko, Marilyn (Denny) Stenberg, Betty Anderson, Ellen (Fyll) Burthhold and 3 brothers: Mike (Jan), Irvin (Barbara) and David (Jeneen) Loe.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and earned a Master's Degree in Agricultural Economics. Emil started with the Bank of America but switched careers to the California State Department of Agriculture.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joy Loe who died in 1993. Emil and Joy were married for 41 years and had three children: Karlene (Joe) Doupe, Kevin (Carre) Loe and Kirk (Neil) Loe; and grandchildren Adam, Austin, Logan, Laurel, Macey, Tony, Joe, Jennifer, Emma Joy, Skyler and Neil.
After Joy's death, Emil remarried Arlyss Faye Olson of Billings, MT in September of 1996 and relocated to Montana. Emil also leaves behind Faye, her three children Barry (Beth) Olson, Joni Olson and Danny Olson, and grandchildren Mark, Rebekah, Allen, Tylor, Ryan, Sara, Chase, Ricky and Colton. Emil enjoyed traveling to visit grandchildren, working with his hands, and relaxing in his retirement. Emil will be dearly missed, but we are all grateful that his battle is over and he is now at peace.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held at 4:00 P.M., Thursday, Nov. 30, at American Lutheran Church in Billings, Montana. An internment ceremony will take place at Fair Oaks Cemetery in Fair Oaks, Calif. at a later date.
