Ernest Carroll Broch, Jr.

Ernest Carroll Broch, Jr. departed this life 26 April 2021. He was born 6 February 1928 in Baltimore, Maryland, to Ernest Carroll Broch, Sr. and Gwendolyn Rittenhouse Lair. He graduated from Glen Burnie High School and attended Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland.

Mr. Broch served his country in the Army of the United States in World War II and the United States Army in Korea. He was a small arms repairman and his proudest service was with the 13th Engineer Combat Battalion. He received the World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal-Japan and the Korea Service Medal with Three Bronze Stars.

Following service to the United States he worked on many civil and petro-chemical engineering and construction projects prior to retiring in Montana. During his career, Carroll was privileged to work in Vietnam, Algeria, England and throughout the United States. On 24 November 1951, he and Nancy Mae Culpepper were married at her home in Danville, Virginia.

Mr. Broch was preceded in death by his parents; brother Richard Thomas Broch; and sister Patricia Rittenhouse Broch. He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Nancy Culpepper Broch; his children, Melissa C. Broch, Ernest C. Broch III, Eric C. Broch (Amber), Matthew Broch; and three grandsons, Nathaniel Isaac Broch, David Christopher Broch and Micah Aaron Broch.

Graveside services will be conducted 3 May 2021, 2:00 p.m., at Yellowstone National Cemetery.
