Mrs. Anderson, 83, of Billings, died Saturday, at St. Vincent Healthcare, of natural causes.
Ethel was born in Plentywood, the only daughter of Knut Knudson and Bertha White.
On Nov. 9, 1946, she married Edward F. Andersen. In 1957, they moved to Havre, where she worked as a secretary. In 1964, they moved to Billings, where she received her Master of Science in education at Eastern Montana College. Over a 23-year teaching career, she touched the lives of many fifth and sixth grade students, along with her Adult Education students. In 1991, she received the Golden Apple Award for her great teaching skills.
She enjoyed gatherings of family and friends, crocheting, camping, fishing, traveling, helping her grandchildren with their homework and playing cards with her friends.
Survivors include three daughters, Ms. Linda Fiske of Billings, Mrs. David (Janet) Wyard of Billings, Mrs. Robert (Suzanne) Ponce of Billings; seven grandchildren, Michael Fiske of Spokane, Wash., Stevan Fiske of Billings, Mrs. Burton (Bonnie) Conway of Billings, Joseph (Jessie) Ponce of Billings, Tania Ponce of Billings, Scott Andersen of Billings, Mrs. Craig (Amber) Nelson of Billings; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Andersen, and one great-grandchild.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Burial will be in Mountview Cemetery, with Michelotti-Sawyers in charge. Reception will follow at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
