Eunice Wanda Griggs Lippman, 88, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015, at Marquis Grand Park Assisted Living, with family by her side. She was born on Jan. 23, 1927, in Lemmon, S.D., to Orville L. and Eunice (Campbell) Griggs.
The family moved to Montana in 1930 to the Roberts area before settling in Billings. Eunice attended Garfield and Broadwater grade schools in Billings, seventh and eighth in Miles City. Great Falls High and Flathead Co. High were attended before another move brought the family back to Billings, where she graduated from Billings Senior High in June of 1944.
She attended Eastern College for a short time, during which she was the first to receive a perfect score on the "Pitch Test." Music always played an important part in her life. During the year and a half at Senior High, she earned enough merit points to have received badges for all four years of school by singing at church, fraternal groups and at school. It was her honor to be asked to sing for the Senior High banquet, Baccalaureate, and graduation. She was also asked to sing in the Fox at the program celebrating the end of the Second World War.
On May 6, 1949 she was married to Lloyd M. Lippman and the union was blessed with three sons, the "Loves of her Life," William R. (Shari), Larry D. (Dana), and Raymond E.; five grandchildren, Brittney, Brandon, Becki, Bryan and Kevin; six great-grandchildren, Payton Noelle Broadwater, Jaxon Sean Kennell, Gracie June Kennell, Kobe Moon, Austin Lamb and Kellan Lippman.
During her working years, experience was gained at F.W. Woolworth, Stroup Hardware, C. Don Lewis Accountant, J.C. Penny Co., retiring with Montana Dakota Utilities Co. after 34 years.
Eunice served as Worthy Matron of Edna Hedges Chapter #15 O.E.S., 1989-1990; Queen of Bath Zabbia Temple #21, Daughters of the Nile, 2005-2006; and was an affiliated member of Moss Agate Chapter #126 O.E.S. Down through the years, she had been very active in Methodist Church Choir and Epworth League. She enjoyed croqueting, knitting, beadwork, trailering, and playing pinochle and bridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Eunice Griggs; and her brother, Allard L. Griggs. She is survived by her three sons, William (Shari) Lippman, Larry (Dana) Lippman and Raymond Lippman; grandchildren Brittney (Crist) Kennell, Bryan Lippman, Brandon (Jennifer) Lippman, Becki Lippman and Kevin Lippman; great-grandchildren Payton, Jaxon, Gracie, Austin, Kobe and Kellan; sister-in-law Alice Griggs; nephews Tom (Renie) Griggs, Jim (Suzanne) Griggs, and Rob (Tammy) Griggs; as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
