Evelyn Martin

Evelyn Martin quietly passed away on June 2, 2006 at her home where she was surrounded by all her children and siblings.

Mary Evelyn was the daughter of Thomas and Georgiana Young Jenkins and was one of nine children. She was born on September 3, 1923 in Cerro NM on her parents homestead.

On June 26th, 1945, Evelyn married Donald R. Martin in Denver, CO and they were married 57 years until Don's passing in 2003.

Mom did have a grand sense of enjoying life. She loved going 4-wheeling and camping with her kids, napping on the roadside in the sunshine, making cinnamon rolls, working in her yard, helping with the school lunch program and serving meals at Western Manor.

She is survived by her six children, Snooks (Evelyn) Martin, Pat (Bob) Thuesen, Mary Kay (Dave) Streitz, Leo (Marise) Martin, Jean (Larry) Mathew and Annette (Pat) McKee. Her sisters, Bernadette and her lifelong special friend Angie Guruleʹ, of Albuquerque, Ruth Parker of St. Helena, Ca, and Luella Draper of San Diego and her brother Robert Jenkins of Beaver, Utah. Grandchildren: Michelle (Dave), Virginia (Cary), Rich (Dani) and David Hoffman; Jeanette and Janelle Thuesen; Jake (Janna), Josie and Katie Strietz; Doug, Jesse (Janet) Martin; Jolynn and Scott Littan, Cassie and Nathan Mathew; and Adam and Zack McKee; and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Martin, and siblings Angela, Thomas, George and Leo.

Cremation has taken place. Rosary service will be 7pm Sunday at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Memorial Mass will be 10am Monday at St. Thomas The Apostle Church with a reception immediately following at the church.

Private interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Big Sky Hospice or the charity of one's choice.
