Ferris T. Mohn, 97, of Billings, formerly of Flaxville, passed away peacefully at Billings Clinic on July 10, 2016.

Ferris was born in Rock Dell, Minn., on June 24, 1919, to Thomas and Ellen Mohn. The family moved to Canada and later to Montana when he was young and settled in the Flaxville area, where his father farmed.

As a young man, Ferris worked for a CCC Camp in Glacier Park and, during WWII, he worked in the shipyards in Tacoma, Wash., and Portland, Ore. He married Irene Goulet on Aug. 31, 1940, and she joined him on the West Coast. In 1943, they moved back to Montana to begin farming. Ferris and Irene had three sons: Terry, Richard and James. He was a wonderful farmer and active in his community. Ferris served on many boards and was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church of Flaxville. Ferris and his son Terry farmed together for years until retiring and moving to Billings in 2012. He made his home at The Vista at Mission Ridge for the past four years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene; brothers Donald and Bernie; sister Alice Brenden; and sons Richard and James.

Ferris is survived by his son, Terry Mohn (Jo) of Flaxville and Mesa, Ariz.; three special nephews and nieces, Gary Brenden and his wife Connie of Mesa, Lois Gorseth of Billings and Carol Nadlonek of Bozeman; as well as other nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held in Flaxville at a later date.
