Fran was born in Billings on Sept. 10, 1936, to parents J. Carter and Dorothy Gray-Johnson.

She was raised by her father and Edna B. Johnson and lived during her youth at 212 Wyoming Ave.

She was a majorette at Billings Senior High and graduated in 1954.

Fran received a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from Southern Methodist University in Texas and later worked as a dress designer in Kansas City.

She is survived by her best friend and companion S.W. Wolfe, a fellow Billings Senior classmate, and three children: John Marshall Kruzelock of Lake in the Hills, Ill. and his wife, Sylvia; Shallon Louise Cole of Hawaii and husband William, their two children, Madison and Cameron; and David Carter Kruzelock of Billings.

Fran was a resident of Palatine, Ill. for 15 years and moved back to Billings in 1978.

Fran was a popular salesperson at both Aileen's at Rimrock Mall, and the downtown Jason's.

She had a flair for fashion, an eye for interior design, and loved working in her flower garden.

Fran liked to travel, toured Europe after high school, and later visited countries including Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Costa Rica, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Bali.

She died late Sunday night from complications of emphysema. She will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave., Billings.
