Frances Mcferran Profile Photo

Frances McFerran, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away on March 16, 2016, due to multiple medical conditions.

Frances was born in Laurel on Nov. 2, 1931, to Floyd and Rose Cline. She graduated from Joliet High School and began working as a telephone operator. In the fall of 1949, she met Gene McFerran at the Boyd Harvest Festival. They married on July 2, 1950, in Joliet, and thus began the great adventure of their lives together.

Frances and Gene had several business ventures throughout the years, which she supported faithfully. Frances was known for her caring, kind, compassionate and hospitable nature.

After retirement, they continued to seek adventure by traveling south for the winter, and she particularly enjoyed walking on the beach at Pismo Bay. Her greatest pleasure, however, was time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which always brought a smile to her face.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister Catherine Skates; daughter Janet Neville; and grandson Clint Fisher.

Frances is survived by Gene, her loving husband of 65 years; daughters Joan Obert, Susan (Don) Fisher, Brenda (Jim) Stephenson; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; her sister, Bev Tait; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 21, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave.

Donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children.
