The race is over, the Battle has been won. Fred H. Wennemar went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 13, 2015. Thank Jesus! Fred died at St. Vincent Hospital as a result of natural causes. Fred was born on July 15, 1931, on South Dry Creek between Bridger and Belfry, the eldest of four children of Hubert John and Emma (Conrad) Wennemar. He attended schools at Dry Creek, Bridger and EMC in Billings. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was with the 119th and 511th Transportation Port Companies with tours of duty to Alaska and the South Pacific. He married Barbara Ann Huddleston, daughter of Bert and Margaret (Lambrecht) Huddleston, at St. Patrick's Church in Billings on April 16, 1955. Barbara was the love of his life. This marriage lasted 60 years and produced six lovely children. Barbara and Fred lived in Glendive and Billings before moving to Laurel in 1968. He was employed by Cenex Pipeline for 42 ½ years before retiring in 1997. He would like to thank his employer (Cenex Pipeline) and his co-workers for making this job rewarding and enjoyable. Fred was a charter member of The Father Shevin Knights of Columbus, the Laurel Lions Club and Chief Joseph Toastmaster's Club. He was also a member of the American Legion. Fred was preceded in death by a son, Larry; his parents; daughter-in-law Candi Wennemar; sisters Frances (Jack) Halverson, Mary (Rudy) Hergenrider; and brother Ray (Grace) Wennemar. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons Fred E., Laurel, Dean, Gig Harbor, Wash., Greg A., Columbus; daughters Laurie (Wilbur) Harper, Roundup, Anne (Charlie) Murphy, Molt; his sister-in-law Sister Mary Laura Huddleston, Kansas City, Kan.; grandchildren Nicole (Ben) Hanson, Roundup, and Jeremy (Jamie) Harper, Powderville; and his brother's widow, Mrs. Ray (Grace) Wennemar from England. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Ian and Rylan Hanson, and Emelyn, Addison and Paisley Harper. Glory and Praise, Honor and Thanks to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be world without end. I don't care if it rains or it freezes, I am safe in the arms of Jesus. A vigil will be held April 19, at 7 p.m., at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. A celebration mass will be held Monday, April 20, at 11 a.m., at St. Pius Catholic Church, with military rites. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
