Glenn Milligan

Glenn Milligan, a month and a half shy of his 93rd birthday, passed away of natural causes  on March 5, 2021, while still living independently at home. He was born in Billings in 1928 to Robert and Ida Mae Kratz Milligan. Glenn, being of Irish roots, was a determined young man from Day One. He lived his entire life on his own terms.

Glenn was the youngest of three children. He met his classmate, future wife and love of his life, Helen Reese, while in the second grade at McKinley School. They were married on July 18, 1948.

In the early years of their marriage, they lived in Absarokee and ran Milligan's IGA, the grocery store founded by Glenn's father. Later, they moved to Glendive, where they owned and operated the Glendive Standard Oil Bulk Plant. During that time, Helen and Glenn developed many lifelong friends. They returned to Billings in 1967 to own and  operate the Billings Standard Oil Bulk Plant. Over the years, they also owned and operated several other businesses including GEM Realty. Glenn thoroughly enjoyed being a member of Al Bedoo Shriners.

Glenn had many friends and he dearly loved his family. He also enjoyed his many outings with his nephew, Dale Milligan. He will be greatly missed!

He is survived by his three sons living in Billings, Bill (Cindy), Jerry (Pam) and Mike (Lanette); by his daughter Terri Tippets of Pescadero, California; and by his three grandchildren, Lauren, Katie and Matt Tippets; as well as his three great-grandchildren, all of California. He also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Helen; sister Dorothy Lawson; and brother Robert Milligan.

Cremation has taken place. A graveside memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 12, at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Cremation remains will be buried next to his wife, Helen.

Memorials may be made to the Yellowstone Council on Aging or the charity of one's choice.
