Gordon G. Weber

Gordon G. Weber passed away on April 25, 2012, at Horizon Hospice Home of Billings.

Gordon was born on Oct. 29, 1915, in Washburn, N.D., to George H. and Katharine Weber. He attended elementary and high schools in Washburn, and was a graduate of Jamestown College, Jamestown, N.D., in June 1937.

On June 19, 1946, he and Lila M. Clark were united in marriage, and established their home in Billings.

Gordon began working for the First Bank System in August 1937, in Lemmon, S.D.; transferred to the First National Bank, Bismarck, N.D., in January 1938; and to the Midland National (now U.S.) Bank of Billings in May 1946 until retirement on Dec. 31, 1977.

Gordon served in the U.S. Army for 40 months, beginning in May 1942. Thirty-eight of those months were spent in the North Africa, Sicily and European theaters of operation during World War II.

Gordon was a member of Ashlar Masonic Lodge #29; The Exchange Club of Billings, of which he was treasurer for 10 years; and a life member of the National Audubon Society. He served as treasurer of the Yellowstone Valley Audubon Society for 20 years. He was also a member of several other conservation organizations.

Beginning in 1952, Gordon spent many days fishing the many lakes and streams of Montana, northern Wyoming and Idaho. Of particular interest was hiking to the many lakes near Cooke City and, in later years, fishing the Stillwater River.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Adeline.

He is survived by his wife, Lila; and daughter, Lila (David) Trisell of Michigan. Also surviving are his brother, Norman, of Idaho; niece Rita Weber; and nephews Jeff and Tim Weber.
